5th loop

Today you begin your 5th loop around the Sun.

This past year was pretty rough as you were sick with allergies for most of it, and yet again you were teaching me.

I’ve never felt despair
or helplessness
or concern
or worry
or…

I numbed myself so much in the past that I’ve never felt for anything before.

Until now.

All I cared about was for you to get healthy again
so we could so romp around in the sun
so we could splash around in the canyon
so we could…

We.

That’s the key word.

As I looked over the photos from the past year, I noticed there weren’t very many of them.

I am aware that again you were teaching me.

This time to be in the now.

To leave the phone behind and just be with you
as we wandered through the forest
as we jumped in the water
as we goofed around for everyone to see.

Just you and me.

How I have changed as I watched you grow
as you watched me grow.

Together.

Just you and me.
