awareness -> choice -> different results
My morning routine of waking up, having a shower, get my tea and then head straight for my laptop to start working seems simple enough.
I never really gave this routine much thought, until I realized I’ve been doing it for 10 years. And the child inside me hated it.
Why? Because I flat out ignored him. Bypassed him every morning as if he didn’t exist and believing there was no consequence. Then the noise in my mind started, the distractions.
So what does a child do when it wants your attention? It yells, screams, cries… it makes noise. And it gets louder and louder until you can’t ignore it anymore. Then you give it a bit of attention, smooth things over and get back to work. Problem solved right?
Not really as I just fall back into old habit and routines. The cycle keeps repeating itself until one becomes aware of what is happening. I finally became aware a few days ago of this.
So I chose to change up my morning routine. Instead of waking up and starting the day my way, I decided to connect with the little guy and see what he wants to do. Do you want to go for a walk? Watch the sunrise? Meditate? Have breakfast? Read a book? Listen to music? I’m choosing to do whatever he wants in order to make him happy FIRST before doing anything else… and it is working!
I feel the difference, the noise in my head is gone and today I got to experience what I can attract in.
This morning as I lay there daydreaming about my last momondays Vancouver show I am hosting, my friend Yana confirms she is coming back to attend the last show, then my friend Jivi reaches out saying she worked her ass off in order to come back early and make it to the show, then my friend Cathy asks is she can speak last.
With this new routine I had an oppourtunity to feel all this love that is being sent my way vs. being distracted by work.
It is moments like these that can easily be lost in the hustle of life. So take a moment for yourself, breathe and appreciate what you have right now.
