orchid

nature always inspired me.

especially flowers

as they just know what to do.

a seed is planted in the darkness

it grows

and then it sees the light!

yeah I know... that was pretty cheesy coming from me.

but this is true! flowers just know what to do.

I was gifted an orchid a few years ago

all I did was put it by a sunny window

water it and give it some good vibes.

and it kept blossoming beautiful flowers month after month!

I was fascinated at how it knew what to do in order to grow, bloom, the blossoms dropped and repeat.

dropped and repeat...

WOW!

I just had an epiphany of what this process is!

in order to continue growing, the orchid is letting go of the past.

this is a very timely realization considering my float tank experience 72 hours ago, where the session was focused on "let it go".

I just came to this conclusion now, but this isn't what I came to share with you.

came to share with you...

well... last year I saw a lot of new roots growing and the small pot that the orchid originally came in I believed was getting too small.

so I got a bigger pot and transplanted it.

then something very unexpected happened

the two stalks that did all of the blossoming began to die!

seeing them change colour and eventually dried up into hard sticks.

I was devastated by this result of what I had done.

filled with regret that I should have left it alone.

I killed something beautiful.

something beautiful...

yeah.

I did listen to you and kept watering it, hoping that something would happen.

and something did!

it kept growing

new roots

new deep green leaves.

it was still alive.

and I couldn't just throw it away

so I kept checking in and watering it.

week after week

month after month

new roots and leaves grew and died.

and the two dried stalks kept reminding me of what I did.

I eventually stopped paying attention

just gave it water

and left it alone.

today when I was looking out the window watching Kismet run around, I noticed something I haven't seen before.

when I looked at the orchid there was a new green stem!

somehow it knew

what it had to do

in order to grow

and show its beauty once again.

I'm aware of the messages and lessons it is showing me.

patience... yeah this is something I'm always working on.

never give up... as I could have easily thrown it away.

letting go of the past in order to continue growing.

but the biggest message I'm getting

is that everything we need

already exists within us

and to just trust the process.
